SUNDAY MESSAGES

Lockdown Lessons: #1 Being in God’s will, not our own.

Questions from the message:

  1. When have you been a ‘Jonah’ – where God was sending you in one direction and you were simply determined to go the other way? Is that happening in your life now?
  2. Am I rebelling against God’s will for me today? Am I running from God?
  3. What is stopping you from running towards God? God has great faith in your Gifts and abilities – do you?
  4. Understand that God has given you the passions you have. How are you using those passions to influence His Kingdom?
  5. Are you surrendering your ‘ALL’ to Jesus?

The Power of Positive Thinking

Questions from this week’s message:

  1. Positive thinking allows us to have every chance of being the ‘non-anxious presence’ of Jesus Christ to our friends, our neighbours and our family. Where is God using you to be that right now?
  2. Where in your life has God built your confidence? In what situations, places, and times have you been able to claim God’s promise: “I am with you?”
  3. Have there been times in your life when, faced with a situation in front of you, you have doubted the power of God? If so, how have you turned that around and seen God work through that time?
  4. Attitude is everything! What will it take in your life to accept God’s call and understand that He doesn’t call the equipped… He equips the called?

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is…..

QUESTIONS from the message:

  1. Each one of us is called to mission. Who are the people whom God is placing in your path – that He wants you to share Jesus with?
  2. YOU are a part of God’s ‘Plan A!’ How can you use your personal experience of salvation in Jesus Christ to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with others? Is that over a coffee? A meal? Simply asking them if they would like to read the Bible with you?
  3. 80% of people give their lives to Jesus Christ through invitations from friends or family. Are we, as the church – are YOU as the church – being bold enough in our conversations with friends and family? Are YOU being bold enough?
  4. Our salvation is intrinsically linked with the fact that we have repented – turned away from – our sin. Are you struggling with sin in your life? Talk to someone you trust about it and give it over to Jesus.

Easter Sunday

Questions from the Message:

  1. Knowing that Jesus is alive, and that His Holy Spirit dwells in you, how can you use that knowledge to bring those around you into a closer relationship with Him?
  2. In what ways do you rely on Jesus as your companion on the road of life? Can others see that reliance in and around you?
  3. Are there people around you who see Easter as merely another holiday? How can you work to help them see the real meaning of Easter?
  4. Are you in need of confessing again your need for Jesus, and that He renews your heart, mind and life to serve Him?

Good Friday

Questions from the Message:

  1. As you reflect on the Cross – What do you see? How do you feel?
  2. The Cross is a verb – have you made a choice to follow Jesus? If you have, what does the Cross look like as a verb to you? If you are not yet a follower of Jesus, what needs to change in your life in order to turn to Him?
  3. Reflect on what the Cross reveals to you personally. As you do that, who is Jesus calling you to share the Good News with?
  4. Do you want to talk more about how you can make Jesus your Lord and Saviour?Danny is available – right now – to talk about this or anything else that has arisen out of this morning’s message. His mobile # is 0416 214 751

How will I treat The King?

This week we explore how:
Jesus was born to be King; anointed as King; Died as King; and assumed Kingly authority, as Pastor Danny asks the question; How will I Treat the King?

Below are some questions from today’s message that you might like to reflect on or discuss in your small group:

  1. Do I praise more, or complain more?
  2. Have I put my KING first in some things but last in others?
  3. My Sundays are great but by Wednesday I start to ‘flag’ a little – what can I be doing in my faith life to maintain my relationship with my King?
  4. Am I trusting, obeying and following Jesus in the best way that I can? What do I need to do to in my everyday life to ensure that He is #1?
  5. Obeying Him as the Lord of unquestioned and immeasurable love. Following Him as our divine and infallible leader.
  6. How do I treat my King?

Lessons from the Upper Room – Jesus’ Promises

This week in our final message in Lessons from the Upper Room, Pastor Danny McDowell shares 5 of Jesus’ Promises:

  • Knowing the Father through Jesus.
  • That we are called to greater works.
  • We have a helper, and a blessing in the Holy Spirit.
  • Knowing Jesus will bring us peace.

Below are some questions from today’s message that you might like to reflect on or discuss in your small group.

  1. Do you know the Father through Jesus? Would you like to talk more about how to make Jesus your Lord and Saviour?
  2. Do you recognise, rely on, and feel blessed when you acknowledge that you have the power of the helper – the Holy Spirit – residing within you?
  3. Are you experiencing that ‘shalom’ kind of peace of completeness, wholeness, fullness, harmony and the absence of agitation or discord? Do you want that peace? What might be getting in the way?
  4. How can you bring ‘peace’ to those around you this week?

Lessons from The Upper Room – Relationships

This week, Pastor Danny McDowell shared about our relationship with Jesus; our relationship with one another in Jesus; and our relationship with the world.

Below are some questions from today’s message that you might like to reflect on or discuss in your small group.

1. Do you know the Father through Jesus? Would you like to talk more about how to make Jesus your Lord and Saviour?

2. Have you grabbed hold of the promise that He has great works in store for you to achieve in His name?

3. Do you recognise, rely on, and feel blessed when you acknowledge that you have the power of the helper – the Holy Spirit – residing within you?

4. In Jesus, you can have peace – that ‘shalom’ kind of all-encompassing peace. Are you experiencing that peace?

Lessons from the Upper Room – Heaven

Pastor Danny McDowell spoke about how we need to trust that Jesus will come for us and take us to the place he has prepared for us so we can spend eternity with him.

Below are some questions from today’s message that you might like to reflect on or discuss in your small group.

1. Where is your trust level in Jesus right now? In what areas of your life are you able to see that He has the situation in His hands?

2. As Jesus’ representative here on earth, in what ways are you a ‘prodomoi’ – a forerunner – to those around you in helping them to understand that only in a life-changing relationship with Him can they be assured of an eternity in heaven? How are you encouraged, day to day, to live like someone who is a follower of the One who will have the ultimate victory?

3. Jesus is the way – the only way. Jesus is the truth – the only truth. Jesus is the life – the only life. Jesus alone is the way to the Father. If you believe that promise of His, then you have a place in heaven secured for you. If you don’t yet believe that Jesus is the only way; the only truth; and the only life – then what is it that is holding you back from taking that step?

Right in the Centre

Baptism – this week Pastor Danny McDowell spoke about how we are People of Hope; Dead to Sin; and In the Centre of God’s Will.

Below are some questions from today’s message that you might like to reflect on or discuss in your small group.

1. What is baptism? – Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. It’s a public declaration of how Jesus has changed your life. Being baptised shows others that you’ve decided to follow Jesus, and allows them to celebrate this decision with you (Acts 16:31-34). Baptism doesn’t save a person; it’s a symbol and celebration of salvation (1 Peter 3:21). The power that brought Jesus back to life is the same power Jesus uses to change our lives – and that’s worth getting excited about!

2. Why should I be baptised? Jesus instructs us to be baptised and set the example by being baptised (Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 1:9). Obedience to Jesus shows we believe and follow Him. (1 John 2:3). Because Jesus went public about His love for us, we can go public about our love for Him. Being baptised shows that we turn away from a life of sin toward Jesus, the only one who can change us (Acts 2:38-41).

3. When’s the best time to be baptised? – For everyone who decides to follow Jesus, baptism is the next step. Anyone who commits his or her life to following Jesus is ready to be baptised (Acts 8:12). 4. Are you thinking about being baptised?  – Talk to Danny today!
