Danny's Bio
Danny McDowell: A Brief Biography
Welcome to Torquay Christian Fellowship!
My name is Danny McDowell and I’ve been serving God in pastoral ministry for over 10 years - as a Youth Pastor in a small Church of the Nazarene (Methodist tradition); as an Associate pastor for Youth & Young Adults, (inc. schools, children, families & playgroups) at Knox Community Baptist Church; and as Senior/Sole Pastor at Pleasant St Baptist Church in Ballarat. I was commissioned as the Senior Pastor at Torquay Christian Fellowship in July 2019 and in October 2019 was ordained as a Baptist minister. I have a keen interest in Sports Chaplaincy, having recently been involved at AFL U18 pre-draft team, The Greater Western Victoria Rebels.
In the early 1990’s, my wife Julie, (who is a Primary School Chaplain), & I spent 2 years in Western Samoa serving the local church there. Returning from Samoa in 1994, we started a family and now have 3 adult children: Ashlee, (24) a nurse; Sarah (22), (studying social work) who is married to Jesse; and Riley (18), (working towards becoming a Youth Pastor). It is our joy to see them all walking with Jesus.
I love reading, playing drums, all things Rockabilly, and the Mighty Western Bulldogs!
My passion is to equip, encourage & empower God’s fellowship of believers to ‘go out’ into the wider community and to share their unique and individual stories of how Jesus has changed their lives, so that they can then lead them to a point where they can encounter Jesus for themselves.
I look forward to seeing you at TCF!
