What To Expect:
A warm and friendly welcome!
A typical service lasts about 90 minutes, with Communion, Worship and a Gospel-based message from the Bible that relates to everyday life. Communion is open to all who know Jesus and who want to know him. Personal prayer is always available at the end of our worship time and we encourage you to stay and get to know us over morning tea before heading home.
Who We Are:
Torquay Christian Fellowship (TCF) is a member church of the Baptist Union of Victoria. We also operate Torquay Early Learning Centre (TeLC), a day care and early learning centre/kindergarten under the auspices of Torquay Christian Fellowship Care Inc. (TCFCi) a non-profit incorporated association.
Baptist churches are governed by the local congregation members, and as such all church activities, the church facilities, TeLC, and its operations are truly a service provided by and for the local Surf Coast community.
What We Believe:
These are the convictions of members of our church :
The Bible and Its Use
The Bible is God’s Holy inspired Word, and our ultimate authority. The reading and teaching from the Bible is to help us seek to learn how Jesus would have us grow to be more like Him and understand what it is to be made in Christ’s Image.
We believe in the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer and in the Baptism (filling) of the Holy Spirit and the freedom to use the accompanying gifts associated with that.
Baptism is by immersion. It is a public witness of the persons faith and symbolic of one leaving our past life behind and rising to new life in Christ.
The basis for welcoming people into membership of TCF is by believer’s baptism; by transfer from another Baptist Church; or by transfer from another denomination where they are of good standing and they have expressed their faith in accordance with the requirements of that denomination. We follow the membership requirements as outlined by the Torquay Christian Fellowship Church Constitution.
The Lord’s Supper
The Lord’s Supper was instituted by Jesus Christ to remember His death and resurrection. The symbols of His body and blood are available to all who love the Lord, including children at their parent’s discretion.
The Role of the Laity
The role of the laity within TCF is viewed as a vital part of the body functioning healthily in the growth of the individual and congregation.
