Read 1 Timothy 2:1-8
Who do you pray for? Who does this verse tell us to pray for and why? See if you can find two answers, one is more obvious than the other.

Read Psalm 119:97-104
What should you do if you want to be wiser than your enemies, have more insight than your teachers and more understanding than your elders?
You should try to read God’s word everyday, even if only for a few minutes. Start with one of the Gospels or pick up a devotional book that gives you a passage to read each day. Remember to pray beforehand that the Holy Spirit would give you understanding as you read!
Read Luke 7:1-9
The Centurion in this story had amazing faith in God. What does this story tell us about God’s power over all he has created?

Here is a cool example of biblical prophecy and its fulfillment.
Read Psalm 22
This is the psalm Jesus quotes the first line of on the cross. Try and spot the illustrations the Psalmist used which actually take place at Jesus crucifixion. Keep in mind this Psalm was probably written around 1000 years before Jesus lived.
It is a big question. Why would an all powerful God let us execute his Son?
Want to be even more confused? Then think about this. Jesus is God. Therefore around 2000 years ago God handed himself over to the people he had created so that they could kill him!

The really amazing thing is that this was all part of God’s plan to save us!
It is a plan that spans from before the beggining of the world (John 1:1, In the beginning there was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God) and into eternity (1 Thessalonians 4:17, And so we will be with the Lord forever), lots of it we still don’t understand. However it can be summarised like this.
1. We have all disobeyed God. Romans 3:23 tells us that ‘all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God’.
2. Instead of punishing people for thier sins right away as they deserved God stored the punishment up. In Romans 3:25 Paul tells us that ‘he left the sins committed beforehand unpunished’. However this verse also tells us that God is just and therefore could not leave things this way. So…
3. God took the punishment on himself when he died on the cross. Mark 10:25 says that Jesus gave his life as a ransom for ours. We were slaves to sin but he set us free.
All we need to do is have faith in Jesus and God will wipe away all our sins. That is what makes Jesus so amazing!
Hey Guy’s, here is the first weeks bible study. Read Luke chapter 9 verses 18 to 27 and then think about who Jesus is.
Who does the passage say Jesus is?
Who do you think he is?

Who is Jesus?…Only the most improtant person in history!!!!! In fact the way we number years is based on the time this guy was born. It’s like all of history beforehand (BC) was counting down to his birth and now every year is one more since he was born (AD). But who is he and what did he do that was so important we made time revolve around him?
1. He is God’s Son. That means he is part God and part man (in fact he was fully God and fully man). John tells us that Jesus was even around when the world was created ‘He was with God in the beggining. Through him all things were made;’ John 1:2-3a.
2. He was without Sin. That means that this man could do no wrong, everything he did pleased God. This would be impossible for us to do because we always want our own way and rebel against God just like Adam. But Jesus was no ordinary man, He was Gods Son.
3. He fulfilled Old Testament prophecies. You know the big (sometimes boring) chunk of books at the back of your Bible. Jesus fulfilled the promises made in that book that through the Jews God would bring salvation to all people! In Luke Chapter 4 he reads some of the Old Testament out at Synagogue (Jewish Church) and then says “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” (Sounds like he was a confident guy too!)
4. He is so cool that people have even made Jesus action figures! This ones astronaut Jesus.

So that’s who Jesus was (in fact he was much more too but I want to keep this blog short). If you want to read some of the claims Jesus made about himself click here.
Next week we’ll talk about the stuff he did which makes him even more amazing!
THis is just a place to chat about the stuff we will do as youth at TCF this year.
