Puttin’ it into Context

Read James Chapter 1

You face trials all the time.

Whenever you know what God wants you to do,

but you want to do something else,

you’re facing a test of your faith.

How does this passage say we should respond to

tests?

What is the purpose of these tests?

It says we should be quick to listen. The purpose is so that god tests if your really a true Christian like when god tested Abraham with sacrificing his only son.

    Hey Bienie,
The passage does say we should be quick to listen, but it also says we should consider it ‘pure joy’ when we are tested. God’s tests aren’t only to test us for the sake of seeing if we have faith (he already knows that!) but to develop your faith and make it stronger. Thats why we should be happy when we are tested because we know God cares enough about us to take time out to help us be better people.
    Catch you tonight,
    P.S. I’m glad you’re going to have a great time ;-)

  4. James Ashley Says:

1)to try and do whats right in church and all around us
2)to teach us how to be more like god/Jesus

  5. Brett Says:

it says to listen to what God says and that God will never tempt anyone even though it may seem like it.

Good work guys. I think you together you guys have picked up an important distinction between testing and tempting. God definitely tests us in order to teach us what is right and to make us more like Jesus, just like he tested Abraham. However God doesn’t tempt us, he will never try and make us do the wrong thing! It’s our own ungodly desires and the devil that tempts us.
However, whether we are tempted or tested the response is the same, to call out to God for help and listen to what he says (by reading his word). Again, great work guys.
