On Christmas day 2011 we announced that the Salvation Army in Torquay would be purchasing our old building. At a time when church buildings are often being sold due to shrinking congregations it’s great that this sale came about because of two growing churches in Torquay. The Boston Rd site has been a great location for us these past 15 years, but we have outgrown it, and so Torquay Christian Fellowship is buying the former Shire buildings in Grossmans Rd to refurbish as a new worship centre. When we put 35 Boston Rd on the market we hoped for a buyer who would continue to use the buildings and not just develop the land. The fact that in the end it is another local church with whom we already have a great and close relationship is a terrific outcome.
